M3, the first long-range LiDAR sensor on the M Platform, delivers 300m range at 10% reflectivity and 0.05° x 0.05° angular resolution. The M3 is built on mature RoboSense 2D scanning technology and utilizes 940nm wavelength for its high-performance capabilities.

A powerful sensor that leverages deep RoboSense technical expertise, the M3 will advance highly intelligent OEM and Tier1 mass-produced driver assistance capabilities from level 2 to level 3 and beyond.

Wavelength
Longer range, shorter wavelengths
M3 is the M platform's first LiDAR product with 300m@10% ranging capability through 940nm technology implementation, breaking the technical bottleneck of "only 1550nm can achieve longer than 250m@10% range" in the industry.Currently, M3 has obtained the Class 1 eye safety certificate issued by the international authoritative institution Seibersdorf Laboratories.
Long distance detection of small objects
Delivers a range of 300m@10% and 0.05° x 0.05° angular resolution within ROI to detect smaller objects at longer distances. The M3’s ability to detect long-distance objects can meet the needs of global OEM/Tier1 for L3 functionality at up to 120km/hour.
Effective detection of distant small objects

Tires

Clear detection of tire fragments up to 140m

Traffic cones

Clear detection of traffic cones up to 280m

Child (Height 70cm)

Clear detection of a standing child wearing black clothes up to 250m
Cost-effective, smaller and less power consumption
Thanks to RoboSense 2D scanning technology and 940nm wavelength, M3 enables simple integration and reduce the cost of high-end intelligent driving systems.
Mature technology for project consistency
M3 incorporates mature and highly reliable technology, supporting project consistency for customers and delivering a sensor with performance they can trust. The M3 scanner leverages the M platform's deep expertise in 2D scanning technology. The sensor's transmitting technology uses a fully verified 940nm VCSEL, and the receiver uses SiPM, a mainstream component in the industry.

2D scanning (Scan)

Utilized since 2016, RoboSense 2D scanning is mature, reliable, and a key component of sensors in mass production. Utilized since 2016, RoboSense 2D scanning technology is mature.

VCSEL (TX)

RoboSebse's 940nm VCSEL chip was developed in 2019. Mature technology, advancing robust manufacturing capabilities, the VSCEL chip is superior to fiber laser. Advancing robust manufacturing capabilities.

SiPM (RX)

SiPM is a receiver of mature, mainstream LiDAR component, the SiPM provides advantages including low-cost, high-performance, and easy mass production. It enables superior iteration capabilities in comparison with InGaAs/InP-based RX. A mature, mainstream industry component.
Continuous iteration, seamless upgrade
As the first long-range LiDAR on the M platform, M3 adopts a modular design. This enables performance improvement and cost reduction of next-generation models while maintaining form factor, interface, and scanning technology. Customers will be able to upgrade LiDAR sensors seamlessly without any design changes to their vehicles, minimizing the development cycle of intelligent driving solutions.
